If you don't file a complaint when receiving your luggage at the arrival airport, it means you accept that your luggage has been transported intact and safely. After this time, your complaint will not yield results. Therefore, as soon as you cannot find your luggage or it is damaged or lost, you must contact Vietnam Airlines staff at the Lost Luggage counter for guidance and complaint procedures.

  1. Complaint Deadline

You should file a complaint as soon as possible so that the baggage search process is faster and more efficient. According to Vietnam Airlines' regulations, complaints must be submitted within 07 days from the date of receipt of luggage for lost, damaged, or missing luggage, and 21 days from the date of receipt of luggage for delayed luggage.

You must submit your complaint in writing. If it is overdue, your complaint will not be resolved.

  1. Luggage Delivery and Receipt

As soon as the lost luggage is found, Vietnam Airlines will call you and send it to the address you provided. If not, you can come directly to receive it.

  1. Unclaimed Luggage

If you do not come to claim your luggage, Vietnam Airlines will handle it as follows:

  • Checked Baggage: If the luggage is not claimed, depending on the type of luggage, Vietnam Airlines will store it for 90 days and may charge a fee. After 90 days, Vietnam Airlines has full discretion over the luggage.

  • Property Left on the Plane: If you leave items on the plane, please contact the Lost Luggage counter staff at the arrival airport or the relevant airport for assistance.

  • Compensation Liability
  • For international flights (except flights to and from European Union countries), governed by the Warsaw Convention of 1929 and amended by the Hague Protocol of 1955:

• The maximum liability limit of Vietnam Airlines for checked baggage is 20USD/01kg (or equivalent currency value).

• The maximum liability limit of Vietnam Airlines for carry-on baggage is not more than 400USD/01 passenger (or equivalent currency value).

  • For flights to and from European Union countries - governed by EC law 785/2004 of 21/4/2004:

• The maximum liability limit for baggage loss (including carry-on baggage and checked baggage) is 1000 SDR/1 passenger (or equivalent currency value).

• In the event that both carry-on and checked baggage are lost due to many reasons, the compensation will be based on the actual loss but not exceeding the maximum liability of Vietnam Airlines for that passenger (1000 SDR or equivalent currency value).

These regulations do not apply to luggage declared as high value.

The liability limits of Vietnam Airlines for checked baggage placed on seats (CBBG) do not exceed the liability limits of Vietnam Airlines for checked baggage.
